International Women’s Day: Celebrating Mums in Our Community

Estimated read time: 3 minutes

Posting early because some things deserve a longer celebration. With International Women’s Day on 8 March, we want to pause and honour the women who make Bear and Cub what it is. Mums, carers, aunties, grandmothers, and friends who show up for little people and for each other, every single day.

To the mums who carry the mental load, who pack the snacks, remember the spare clothes, schedule appointments, and still find a smile for “one more push on the swing”, we see you. To the mums returning to work, starting new chapters, or taking a breath between big seasons, we see you too. Strength looks different on everyone. Sometimes it’s a confident stride; sometimes it’s a quiet tear in the car before a brave drop-off. Both count.

What we love about the mums of Bear and Cub

  • You build a village on purpose. A quick chat about nap schedules turns into real friendship.

  • You make space for growth. You let your kids try, wobble, and try again, with the softest landing waiting.

  • You share the load. You swap numbers for playdates, pass on clothes, and whisper “You’re doing great” to a stranger who needed to hear it.

A gentle nod to the hard bits Motherhood is beautiful and often heavy. If you’re moving through sleep debt, loneliness, big emotions, or decision fatigue, you’re not failing—you’re human. International Women’s Day is our reminder that community care matters. Asking for help is a strength, not a shortcoming.

How Bear and Cub is celebrating This week, we’re putting extra love into the calm: peaceful set-ups, cozy nooks, and a welcoming vibe where women can exhale, chat, and be seen. If you’d like, bring a friend who needs a soft place to land, there’s always room at our table. We’ll also have a small gratitude wall where you can write a note to a woman who has lifted you up.

A message to every mum who walks through our doors You are enough. Your child needs your face, your voice, your presence, exactly as you are. Thank you for choosing our little play centre as part of your village. We are proud to be a space that celebrates women not just on one day, but all year round.
