1. Letter Recognition
Begin by helping your child notice, recognise and become familiar with uppercase and lowercase letters through tracing, pictures, matching and playful repetition.
2. Letter Sounds
Once letters become familiar, begin connecting them with the sounds they represent. Simple modelling, listening activities, pictures and sentences help children hear and practise sounds naturally.
3. Onset and Rime
Start playing with the way words work. Children explore rhyming patterns and word families, hear similarities between words and discover how changing the beginning can create an entirely new word.
4. Common Words
Introduce useful little words children will encounter again and again as they begin reading. Familiarity is built gradually through repetition, simple sentences and meaningful activities.
5. Reading for Fun
Bring those developing skills together with simple, engaging early reading experiences. Beautiful illustrations, short sentences and conversation prompts encourage children to make meaning from what they read — and discover that reading can be something they genuinely enjoy.
 
GrowCub isn't about how many pages you can finish or how quickly your child can begin reading independently. It's about giving them repeated, positive experiences with language and print while those important early connections are forming.

There is a huge difference between a two-year-old beginning to notice letters and a five-year-old starting to put sounds and words together, and that's exactly the point. GrowCub isn't designed around an expectation of what your child should know at a particular age.
For some children, it might mean pointing, listening, talking and noticing.
As they grow, those same foundations can develop into recognising letters, hearing sounds, playing with words, identifying common words and eventually beginning to read.
 
Follow their interest. Repeat as often as they need. Move forward when they're ready.
