How do I know when my child is ready to start their reading journey?
Every child learns at their own pace, so rather than focusing on age, look for signs that your child is becoming curious about letters, words and books.
Your child may be ready to begin this section if they:

By exploring word families such as -at, -an and -it, they'll begin to notice that changing just the first sound creates a whole new word.
Through playful activities, your child will practise blending sounds together, hearing patterns within words, and building confidence as they read their very first simple words. These early decoding skills provide an important bridge between learning individual letter sounds and becoming an independent reader.
